Katie lyrics

Celtic Thunder ft. Colm Keegan

Tumbling curls of green
By stained glass streaming light
And a yellow coloured lampshade
Used to keep us up all night
The smile upon your face,
And the tears upon your cheek
The night sky on the window
And your heart calling out to me

Come running home again Katie,
Come running home again
Cross my heart and hope to die,
Shall I cause another tear from your eye

The mirror that won't talk
And your nightgown on the door
The old pedal singer
Just don't sing no more
You can roll the reels for hours
From the movie of this book
It's a question mark on this heart of mine
Sends an elder back to look

Come running home again Katie,
Come running home again
Cross my heart and hope to die,
Shall I cause another tear from your eye

[Instrumental]

Now I'm looking through a tunnel
Back into the room
With genius of a Druid
And the sunlight floods the tomb
And I'm never going back there,
I couldn't any way
And though I made the great escape,
I never got away

Come running home again Katie,
Come running home again
Cross my heart and hope to die,
Shall I cause another tear from your eye

Shall I cause another tear from your eye

Celtic Thunder

Songwriter: Jimmy McCarthy - Irish singer songwriter born in Macroom, County Cork, Ireland in 1953.

Brief: The song is about a woman called Katie who has passed on and her spirit is present in the house where she and her lover/husband lived... she can hear her lover 's heart calling out to her, "Come running home again Katie". Although she made the 'great escape' through dying, she never really 'got away' as her spirit lies with him forever.
